About this experience
The road into the Johar valley is one of the newest in the Himalaya, pushed up the Gori Ganga gorge towards Milam along a route traders once walked for weeks. Driving it is an adventure in itself — cliffs, waterfalls, river crossings and constantly changing surfaces.
We run this expedition in capable 4x4s with drivers who know the valley, stopping at the old Johari villages, walking where the road ends, and camping or staying in homestays along the way. It is for travellers who want to reach the high valley without trekking all the way in.
